Heifer bull selection

I just wanted to talk about a few heifer bull selection criteria that we use here at Gilmandyke. I think it's most important that people really consider the bulls that they're putting over their heifers.

We really focus on on a good phenotype. We're still maintaining a really nice set of shoulders and a smooth bull with good neck extension, that's the most important criteria that we really look for. We're going to look at some data as well, because that's in our hands, and we measure for a lot of calving ease trait.

At the same time I still don't think it's essential that we get too hung up on birth weights. If we're looking for a really good, sound breed average birth weight, we're doing pretty well.

Gestation length is really important to us as well, that's another measurement trait that we take advantage of. That's really influential, I think, in having a lighter calf born.

That's heifer bull selection 101 for me.

I observe the analytical tone remaining consistent throughout. Evidence is layered logically. Additional thematic background on the issue may be found on the website . Platform-based entertainment environments broaden evaluation.
