Position Description: Stud Operations Manager

Role Overview:

The Stud Operations Manager plays a vital role in running the day-to-day management of a
high-performance Angus cattle stud. This position involves hands-on livestock care, breeding
program support, data recording, and operational oversight to ensure the health,
productivity of the herd reporting to the Stud Manager and General manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Livestock Management

o Assist with daily care, feeding, and monitoring of cattle
o Support calving, weaning, and animal health protocols
o Monitor and report on animal welfare and performance

Breeding Program Support

o Assist with artificial insemination (AI), embryo transfer (ET), and natural mating programs
o Maintain accurate breeding records
o Coordinate with veterinarians and reproduction specialists

Data & Record Keeping

o Use livestock management software to track performance, health, and genetics
o Maintain NLIS and other regulatory compliance records
o Prepare weekly reports for Stud manager and General Manager

Operational Duties

o Assist with pasture management, fencing, water systems, and infrastructure maintenance
o Operate farm machinery and vehicles safely and efficiently
o Support logistics for cattle sales, shows, and field days

Team Collaboration

o Supervise casual staff or contractors when required

o Communicate effectively with the Stud Manager and other team members
o Work with other staff within the commercial operation from time to time

Skills & Qualifications:

 Experience in cattle handling, preferably with stud or seedstock operations
 Knowledge of Angus genetics and breeding practices
 Competency in livestock software and data entry
 Strong organizational and communication skills
 Ability to operate machinery and perform physical farm tasks
 Relevant agricultural qualifications (preferred but not essential)

 Adaptability and problem-solving mindset
 Ability to work within a team as well as alone
 Neat, clean and tidy

The role will suit an experienced stock person with an ambition for achievement, the
position will be part of a greater business that spans 7300ha over 5 holdings in NSW which
runs Stud and commercial cattle, Merino and cropping programs. The successful applicant
with not only work closely with the stud program but also play a part in the operation as a
whole. Package will include a fully refurbished home that would suit a family.
